Our Take
Cardiology is where AI in diagnostics proves it can get paid. AI plaque analysis and FFR-CT now earn their own Medicare payment, AI-read ECG patches have replaced the Holter, and ECG-AI finds weak hearts, amyloidosis and pulmonary hypertension in a standard 12-lead tracing. The market grows from $2,240.0 million in 2026 to $8,600.0 million in 2031, at 30.9% a year, as the algorithm, not the scan, becomes what the payer pays for.

Market Size 2026: USD $2,240M Market Size 2031: USD $8,600M CAGR: 30.9%
Situation Analysis: what is really happening
- CT catches up with the ECG. Cardiac CT & MRI is the fastest-growing data modality at 35.1% a year, rising from 20.5% to 24.0% of the market, as AI plaque analysis and FFR-CT spread.
- The AI service gets paid. AI Analysis Services grow 33.9% a year, from 24.5% to 27.5% of the market, after CMS set payment for the new AI plaque analysis code and Aetna began covering it.
- Heart failure moves up. Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathy grows 34.1% a year as ECG-AI and echo AI find low ejection fraction, amyloidosis and pulmonary hypertension earlier.
- Primary care joins in. Primary Care & Retail Clinics is the fastest-growing end user at 36.5% a year, as AI stethoscopes, ECG-AI and guided ultrasound let non-specialists find heart disease.
- Consolidation and conflict. Medtronic completed its $585 million acquisition of CathWorks, iRhythm bought VitalConnect, and HeartFlow sued Cleerly and Elucid over patents.
- China is the growth engine. China grows 39.8% a year, the fastest of any country, while the USA remains more than half of the market.
